In the quest to restore function after spinal cord injuries, researchers at University of California San Diego have come up with a unique tool — a 3D printed scaffold. This “bioprint” custom scaffold is intended to serve as bridge to place, guide and protect stem cells, enabling them to grow into nerves that can span across the injury.
